Tea or Coffee ?!

In the discovery bar we have the place to be during snowy days, Teaorcoffee is a small place with a friendly staff and awesome prices (we had a discount because of snow, let it snow all the life haha). Like every saturday, we went for a new discovery and thanks to Hajar who recommanded this place.

With all the stress Istanbul is living lately, we needed a cosy moment in a local place. So TeaorCoffee was THE adress. We tasted the hot chocolate with Marshmallows and sweet peanuts, it was so delicious. They are also serving desserts, sandwichs and a Moroccan mint tea that we had not the chance to drink yet but we will come back soon.

For you, tourists reading that, the people working there speak english very well and the place is near to Istiklal Avenue.

November Coffee breaks

As we promessed last month, we will be sharing with you the best places we went to during the month and especially those we loved the most. During november, we discovered three news places and Khawla talked about one of them in her Saturday night post. If you live here or plan to come on vacation here, this is our Fav’ coffee breaks.

We talk a lot about Starbucks because we love the fact that they have a new different thing every season. And now that December is coming, the christmasy drinks are here and we are in love with the Toffee Nut Latte. Also, since we work every Monday morning at Starbucks, we tried the greek yogurt with red fruits and this is the most delicious/healthy thing you could have for breakfast.

The thing we love the most about this place is that all their products are home made. Icrecream, Sandwiches, Limonatas and desserts. In the same time, it’s all turkish specialty. The red drink in the first picture is Nar Limonata – Grenade limonade. And the dessert in the second picture is Kadayf, we don’t know how to describe it to you but it’s so sweet and delicious.

How to go there

Since we came to Istanbul, everybody told us that the best pastries are in Karakoy. Thanks to our dear friend Hajar who proposed this cosy place. We tried hot chocolate, Cheesecake and Tiramusi and we loved them all. We are planning to visit them again to try more delicious desserts and food also.

We were not planning to go there, we were just looking for a place to study in and guess what ? In Istiklal Avenue where everybody is singing and dancing, we found THE place. We also discovered German specialty in pastries, even if german people don’t smile, they eat good.

Shopping in Istanbul

One of the reasons why people love Istanbul is shopping. A country known for its high reputation in the textile industry. And since we received a LOT of emails and messages from you asking for advices and tips. We decided to share with you the places, the periods and the brands we love to shop in. The choice here is large, brands from all over the world are present in one city and the prices are competitive and reasonnable compared to other countries. This posts will be a bit longer than usual so bring your cup of tea and enjoy reading the most anticipated article: Shopping in Istanbul.

Shopping in Istanbul

You can’t come to Istanbul and avoid them because you will find them everywhere. The city counts 114 commercial center which is just enormous. As a tourist, look for those where you can find almost all the brands, like Cevahir or forum Istanbul.

When you live here you avoid to shop in Taksim because it’s always crowded but still, it’s here where you can find all the brands twice haha (those who came here before will understand what are we talking about) and where you can live the tourist/traveler experience. But we always felt that in Malls the prices are more competitive so it depends on you.

Egyptian Bazaar/Eminonu

Egyptian bazaar is mainly for spices. No clothes there but it’s still shopping no ?! If you want to buy some for your kitchen, don’t skip the opportunity. Eminonu is just behind the Egyptian Bazaar, you can find there Towels, Pajamas, sweatsuits and even swimwears for veiled women.

Grand Bazaar

This is the most known market in Istanbul and it’s mainly for home and decor shopping.

They are also commercial centers where mainly the turkish brand are doing sales all over the year. The one we love the most is Airport AVM in Yenibosna.

Don’t forget to click on red words to see how to go there with the google Maps.

Shopping in Istanbul has a lot of advantages, some brand’s prices are a way competitive than somewhere else. We will be comparing the prices mainly to Morocco and you will give you the USD price also. Note that if the difference is big that’s because the products are made in Turkey.

Turkey: 73 USD
Morocco: 266 USD

Turkey: 35 USD
Morocco: 55 USD

Little Big

Turkey: 15 USD
Germany: 52 USD

The only online shop we found around the world for LTB is in Germany so the price is in Euro.

Morocco: 99 USD
Turkey: 73 USD

 Season Sale

Winter season sale: From the beginning of January to the end of March

Summer season sale: From June to the end of August.

End of year sale: The last two weeks of December.
